How you can develop a better mindset and be more successful in real estate.

Whether it’s real estate or anything else, I believe you need to adopt the mindset of a pro athlete. In this field, there are agents making $50,000, $100,000, or $500,000 a year without a college degree. There’s a lot to be gained from succeeding in real estate.

How well we do in this field is based on what comes out of our mouths, and what comes out of our mouth depends on what’s in our brains. Sure you need to understand the documents, but they come pre-printed for you.

“You have to work to rewrite that tape in your mind.”

Think of the little voice in your head as a cassette tape; sometimes it’s you, other times it’s your partner, your father, or what you heard on the radio that morning. Sometimes, you don’t want it to be playing, like when you’re driving up to a competitive listing, but unless you have some superhuman ability to quiet your mind, it’s always going to be running. Think of that voice as a cassette tape and rewrite it with positive things: the Bible, a podcast, or who you hang around with.

You have to work to always rewrite that tape because your little voice controls what you say, which controls how much you make in this business. Matt Ferry used to say your mind is a little bit like a drunk monkey: If you don’t control it, it will make a mess everywhere. Make sure you work to rewrite that tape in your mind.

If you have questions about controlling your mindset or anything else real estate-related, feel free to give me a call. I’d love to hear from you.
