How Do You Answer the Question, “How’s The Market?”

Here’s how you can answer the question, “How’s the market doing?”

If you’re a real estate agent, the most common question you probably get asked is, “How’s the market?” Today I want to talk about the best way to answer this question.

When you’re asked how the market is doing, it’s tempting to simply answer that it’s hot. However, this answer can mean different things to different people, so it isn’t ideal.

In my experience, the best answer to this question is to respond, “It depends.” From here, ask them if they’re looking to buy, sell, invest, or rent. If they get a deer-in-headlights look, start filling in the blanks for them. For example, you could say, “If you’re looking to buy, you’ll probably have to put forward a full-price offer to be competitive, but if you’re a seller, this is great news.”

If you have questions about how to answer this question for every type of client, give me a call or send me an email. I’d love to help.
